Mentorship and Service
Motivated by the challenges I’ve faced throughout my own educational journey, I am passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in graduate education. To that end, I am involved in several mentorship and outreach initiatives at MIT and beyond.
In 2023, I was a Pod Leader for the MIT Summer Research Program, an initiative that invites undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds to MIT to conduct research while preparing for graduate school. In this position, I mentored a small group of student interns and supported their academic development. In 2024, I returned to MSRP as the Pod Leader Liaison, providing mentorship and guidance to our graduate student Pod Leaders as well as the 98 interns in MSRP. I also worked closely with the Political Science interns in the program, who were hosted in partnership with the MIT Global Diversity Lab’s Pathways to Political Science initiative.
Additionally, I am currently a Social & Cultural Chair for the Latinx Graduate Student Association at MIT. In this role, I organize social events designed to foster community and dialogue among Latinx-identifying graduate students across campus.
I am a Graduate Diversity Ambassador, working alongside MIT’s Office of Graduate Education to recruit and support a diverse graduate student body. I also currently serve as one of the Diversity Co-Chairs for the MIT Political Science Department’s Graduate Student Council. Among other initiatives, I help coordinate the department’s Political Science Application Mentorship Program (PS-AMP).
I have also contributed to fostering an academic community in my department and beyond. For example, from 2022 to 2024, I organized MIT’s Latin American Working Group, a student-run interdisciplinary workshop that invites faculty and scholars to present research focused on Latin America.
